OVHcloud is France’s largest cloud provider, and its VPS range is one of the cheapest ways to get an always-on server in Europe. The entry plan, VPS-1, lists 2 vCores, 4 GB of RAM and 40 GB of NVMe storage from €3.81 per month excluding VAT, with unlimited traffic at 500 Mbps.
There is no free VPS. OVHcloud does advertise a Public Cloud free trial credit, but that is a separate product with its own conditions. Read the billing terms when you order: the lowest VPS price appears to assume a 12-month upfront payment, so the month-to-month price can be higher.
A VPS gives you root access and leaves operations to you: updates, firewalls, backups and deploys. In return there is no sleep, no build-minute cap and no surprise per-request billing. For French and EU teams, OVHcloud is also a sovereignty choice: a French company running its own European data centers.
